The story centers around a coffee shop that, allows its guest to travel to specific momen in time of their lives. There are several rules to be met for the guest to be transfered and there is no way the events of the past can be altered by the 'visit'. An elder sibling visits her sister on the day which turns out to be the last time they meet, a wife visits her husband from before he gets affected by a deadly disease.
Visiting the past , or the future does not change the present. So whats the point of using the chair?
"At the end of the day, weather one returns to the past or travels to the future, the present does not change. So it raises the question, just what is the point of that chair.?"
But Kazu still goes on believing that, no matter what difficulties people face, they will always have the strength to overcome them.It just takes heart .And if the char change change someones heart, it clearly has its purpose"
The stories were interesting. The characters were unique and I loved the way the author described the unique traits of the coffee shop and each of the characters in the shop. I found the writing style resemble some of the books of Haruki Murakami.Perhaps this is the way of writing of Japanese authors ?
Verdict : *** A one time read and the language is easy to read. Though the stories are different, the characters are all interwined. I found it a bit confusing to follow but overall I got the message that the author wanted to convey.
Quotes:
Water flows from high places to low places, That is the nature of gravity.Emotions also seem to act according to gravity. When in the presence of someone with whom you have a bond, and to whom you have entruested your feelings, it is hard to lie and get away with it. The truth just wanted to come flowing out. This is especialy the case when you are tyring to hide your sadness or vulnerability.
