As we get older, keeping our minds sharp is very important. This book is a science driven guide about keeping our brains healthy and sharp. The author Sanjay Gupta is a neurosurgeon and CNN's chief medical correspondent. He has used this vast knowledge on the topic to write this actions driven book !
The first part of the book covers the brain and its inner workings. It describes commonly held beliefs about brain health and the truth in them. This section was informative and my favorite part of the book!
The second part of the book is about lifestyle, health and personality changes that we can make to ensure our brain remains sharp and fit.If you're a fitness and wellness freak, sections around movement and diet will be familiar. That said, the section and tips about maintaining and improving our personal and social connections , especially as we get into the 40s and 50s was insightful!
The third part of the book is about detecting and managing cognitive decline diseases like demetia and Alzheimers. It is a good reference for anyone going through this unfortunate situation either themselves or caring someone who is going through this.
Verdict: *** This is a good book to refresh our knowledge around the brain and prioritizing brain health.Although a lot of things in the book 'are obvious',I recommend you read this because reading it nudges us to apply some of the changes consciosly or unconsciously
